MOSAIC BENCH

The artist of this mosaic bench, Božica Kliman, decided on the motives of the church of St. Roch, which she made on the back of the bench. She also dedicated part of the motif to olive growing, and there is also a seagull, a piano, the notes of our national anthem … The symbols of Bibinje that the artist used and expressed in her artwork through this mosaic create a beautiful tourist story.

SALUTATION TO THE SEA MONUMENT

On the stone monument of the author Petar Dolić, which symbolizes a wave carried by a storm, the verses of the poem are engraved „If I fall asleep, the sea will wake me up“, of Bibinje folk poet Ante Sikirić-Krivin. The side with the lyrics in the Bibinje dialect faces Bibinje, and the English lyrics face the sea. It is dedicated to all generations of Bibinje residents who lived from the sea and for the sea, current fishermen and sailors, and new generations whose lives will be marked by the sea. At the same time, the Salutation to the Sea is a kind of symbol of the unbreakable bond between the local population and the people of Bibinje scattered around the world, which is why it is located in the right place - on the Coast of Bibinje's expatriates.

TRG TRI SELA (MIDDLE VILLAGE SQUARE)

Raspivano Bibinje is the oldest and most famous klapa (a cappella) event in Zadar County, which has been held since 1977 on Sri Sela Square. Along with the Dalmatian klapa event in Skradin, the Omiš festival and the Klapa Gospa Sinjska festival, it is the most important national event of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

CHURCH OF ST. ROCCO

The Church of St. Rocco is a symbol of Bibinje and the old parish church of this settlement, named after the patron saint of the place. Its exterior is adorned with a stone bell tower with two bells, while the interior features Baroque marble altars, the oldest of which dates back to 1680, as well as a series of wooden sculptures. The current main altar is the work of master Michiel Coste, built in 1768.

CHURCH OF ST. IVAN

The church is located in the center of the Bibinje peninsula, in the heart of the old historical core, and it is believed to have been founded by the brotherhood of St. John the Baptist in 1442, making it the first church in Bibinje, and thus the source of Christianity in this place. The church's inventory highlights include a wooden carved Baroque altar, which is also the main altar from the 17th century, as well as a collection of sacral objects from the 15th century of significant cultural and artistic value.

CHURCH OF ST. PETER

Remains of the Church of St. Peter were found above Bibinje, near Mount Križ, in the former medieval settlement of Stomorinasela, from where the residents moved to Bibinje. The center of the village was precisely the parish church of St. Peter from the 8th century, a single-nave building with a vaulted entrance supported by a Romanesque bell tower. The church was surrounded by a cemetery with tombstones without inscriptions, and nearby, remains of a chapel from 1476 were found, dedicated to St. George or St. Stephen.

MOUNT KRIŽ

Mount Križ, a dominant elevation in the hinterland of Bibinje and Sukošan and the site of Operation Jaguar, with its prominent strategic position, was one of the key points for JNA members during the period of the fiercest aggression on Zadar in 1991. The main reason for this was the elevated position, as well as the shape of the hill, which to this day offers a beautiful view in all directions.

OLD WELL AND STREAM

Freshwater is the source of life and an essential resource, both today and from the earliest days. While streams and wells on the hills above Bibinje served as a source of clean water for numerous residents in the past, they now proudly stand as reminders of different times, as well as good places to rest. Especially for thirsty cyclists, in peace and quiet. Just like before.

TANK T-34

On May 17, 1992, Operation Jaguar began on Mount Križ, aiming to reduce the artillery pressure on Zadar during the Homeland War. The operation was successfully concluded a few days later by destroying a Serbian T-34 tank and a column of 5 trucks. Afterward, the entire stronghold was handed over to Croatian forces, and a tank identical to the destroyed one was placed at the site where the original tank was, symbolizing this important victory.

CHURCH OF SAINT NICHOLAS

CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY IN DRAČEVEC

The original church was built around 1515, only to be destroyed by the Turks in 1570. It was rebuilt in 1640 and expanded in 1854. The church had a square apse and a bell tower on the facade. Behind the main altar was the altarpiece of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a Baroque oil painting on canvas by Tomacelli, and during the Homeland War in 1991, it was largely destroyed. The new church, at the same location and with the same title, was consecrated in 2001, adorned with a stone altar, tabernacle, and organ in the choir, as well as a bell tower located next to the church.

TOWER

Dračevac is now the eastern suburb of Zadar, first mentioned in 1402 when church records referred to it as Dračevac and Zdračevac, and the Venetian Malpaga. On the eastern side of the village stands a round Venetian fort, called Kulina, which served as an observation post for the defense of the city of Zadar and the entire region from Turkish attacks. It was damaged or completely destroyed several times, especially in 1570 when the Turks took over the area, but after the Turks were expelled, the population returned here and rebuilt the settlement, as well as the tower.

TANK T-55

It was October 5, 1991, when Serbian forces came within a few kilometers of Zadar, to the village of Dračevac. The Croatian army couldn't defend itself and decided to retreat closer to the city, but a few brave guards decided to resist. They managed to destroy a T-55 tank in a narrow street, which blocked the path for other tanks, thereby saving the entire city of Zadar. A tank was later placed at the same location as a monument to this heroic act.

CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY (BIBINJE)

With the increase in population, the former cathedral of St. Rocco became too small for the needs of the residents, so in 1985, the construction of a new church, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, began. For this occasion, the residents of Bibinje purchased 5 bells, cast in the esteemed Italian foundry De Poli, the largest of which, weighing 730 kilograms, is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and still rings throughout the town every day.

VIBIUS SUMMER HOUSE

The archaeological sensation that was found on Lipauska beach in Bibinje dates back to the 1st century and belonged to the rich Roman patrician Vibius, after whom Bibinje got its name. The villa was located right on the sea coast. The preserved part of the stone walls are part of the thermal complex located at the very end of the large villa. Remains of waterproof plaster with pieces of crushed brick were found on the walls. A smaller pool where we find the remains of marble coverings and wall paintings imitating marble are another confirmation that this is the thermal part of the villa. The goal is to raise all the walls located on the beach itself, during restoration and conservation, to a certain height prescribed by the conservators, and to present them to the public.
